The website for the Abbey, just over five minutes' walk from The Pheasants. Sherborne Abbey was founded in the year 705 by St Aldhelm, and both of King Alfred's brothers are buried there. The fan vaulting dates from 1452 and is amongst the finest in England.

Sherborne house, just five minutes' walk from The Pheasants, is a regional arts centre. The building was voted South-West regional winner in the BBC TV series "Restoration" in July 2004, and features a famous mural by James Thornhill. The house was visited by Charles Dickens.
